Linux forums espouse to a different philosophy from a community that prides itself on "freedom" and liberty. Absolutely no aspersion or criticism of anything Linux is tolerated on any of the many forums (all distros) that I've viewed. It's as if TASS has been reborn. Any constructive, healthy objection to the way Linux does something is removed from forum posts without prejudice.
Along with the censorship is the childish attitudes of the mods and supposed super users that reply to posts. Most questions are either answered with RTFM, snide remarks, or non-applicable drivel that often turns the new user off to Linux altogether. Just answer the question. We don't need your opinions on Windows and how Linux is the second coming of sliced bread. As it presently stands, Windows is better at what most people need than Linux. I'm trying to change that. I hope you "Linux Gurus" will start doing the same.

I agree. A common "fix" for major issues are also just ignored if a resolution doesn't arrive.
Time and time again I see a valid question, a few shots in the dark then nothing but the original question floating in la la land.

Ridiculous.
I have learned that Linux is good for browsing the internet. That is about it.
Agreed partially. But the
Agreed partially.
But the users are at fault as well.
If everyone would stop using distributions that suck and do harm to the community then it would be a lot better.
We should cater to the good ideas, and we should accept the better ideas.
And if ideas suck, we need to drop them outright.
"If everyone would stop
"If everyone would stop using distributions that suck and do harm to the community then it would be a lot better."
Haha! HAve you seen what happens when you ask "So, which distro do I use and which do I avoid"?!!!
It's not like there is massive consensus. Which distros do harm then?
I dont really thnk the users are at fault. What do you expect when you throw 150 linux variants at them?
I agree, too many
I agree, too many distributions make the whole Linux movement cumbersome. We want to convert 1000 of our 2800 desktops to Linux, however, people are complaining because they don’t want to learn how to use a computer again.
We need to pick an easy to use flavor such as Ubuntu since they really don’t need anything more than a web browser to run our web apps and email. We have tested some distributions that are full of bugs and others we just didn’t get at all. Another issue is packing them full of useless open source titles to make it appear their flavor is more robust. The only way to make a deployment of this magnitude work is to make as painless as possible for the users.

Nah distro's are good, it gives a platform to work from, ubuntu(desktop mainly), redhat, debian.
