Dual head insanity - written from my windows projector setup

Dual screen wont work again. Spent 2 hours trying to find a solution to this one. It seems I have to tell the operating system there's a cable plugged in to the motherboard and how to instruct it appropriately to do its job in understanding the signal that should be transmitted through that cable.

Get another glass of wine. Talk on forums. No solution. Chatrooms. same.

Reboot machine after disabling xinerama and adjusting /etc/X11 multiple times. Strange thing is the boot screen sees my projected monitor but the OS doesn't. Perhaps I should buy an nvidia card after all. Wait last call is to dual boot into windoze. Now I see it.

There's a a crisp image of a desktop image on the projector screen with no coding required. No instructing the operating system to drive the device so I can see the desired outcome. I can finally watch the film I intended in full 16.9 with 5.1 surround sound and have different backgrounds for each desktop if I can be bothered to call up the CCC (amdcccle) with a simple right click of the mouse.

I admit debian is my system of choice for day to day activities but when it comes down to plain old entertainment, windows, at least for now, is so far beyond anything *nix that its a sore point for any user who values simplicity and ease of use over limitless frustration insurmountable hurdles.

Wait, you were saying why linux is better than windows. Maybe we aren't on the same page after all but this is my first rant on the subject and I'm perhaps more undecided than you are.
